Commenti/Comments

I always think that (so-called) obvious things don’t need to be explained or told out loud. And i’m ALWAYS wrong about that.

So i now feel the need to clear some things and make some request about how to write your comments.

Something that wasn’t that important at the beginning, but now i feel it is, to me.

I really want to stress the fact that my blog(s) are like my own home. They really are.

1. Please, i beg you. Write your comments in a language i, we both can understand.

I speak English, German, and Spanish, as well as italian of course, so you’re free to choose to use one of these.

I mean, i would never, ever, come to your house, and speak my own language, even though i perfectly know that you can’t understand it. it’s not really useful and, always my very personal opinion, it’s not really “polite” either :)

If i, who am italian, write a comment on an english blog, would never, ever, write it in my own language, partly because i think that my own language is not so important that the rest of the world is supposed to know it, but mostly because when i go visit someone’s home (blog) i have to “play by their rules”, and speak the language spoken on that blog.

It doesn’t have to be perfect, or grammatically correct, as far as it’s written in the blog’s language and the message arrives to the blog’s author.

I have studied foreign languages for all my life, and have always been taught that Google translate is a creature of the devil… so don’t assume that i will translate comments in any language which is not among the ones mentioned above with that tool (now that i’ve grown up i don’t think it’s a diabolic tool any longer, but still don’t want to use it).

2. i appreciate an honest non-comment 100 times more than an “empty, mass-produced” comment :)

That’s what i do myself too. I don’t write comments just for the sake of writing comments. Don’t just write “cool! awsome! must be delicious! i’ll try it soon!” or anything alike. I’d rather prefer that you stopped by when i’ve tried a recipe and came to tell me if it turned out well :)

***

3. anonymous comments will not be published.

If you have no blog account, don’t worry, just write you’re name at the and of the comment (you can even do it if your name is different from the nick you use as blogger and you’d like to sign with your real name – i always do that myself), and this will be fine.

(same applies to e-mails, which i’m glad to receive, but if you don’t even write who you are, either at the beginning or at the end… this doesn’t really make me be that inclined to help and be… polite ;) it’s a matter of politeness to introduce yourselves, too)

***

4. comments moderation is activated.

There is no need to write the same comment twice. If your comment doesn’t appear visible instantly, it will be short after (i always check for new comments and publish them, like every 30 minutes)

***

5. if you write/ask a question here, i won’t be replying on your blog, i will reply below the asked question/left comment.

It’s just the way i’m used to doing.

***

6. sorry for the “word verification” thing, i know it’s a pain in the neck, but so are spam comments, so here we go.

Guess what? no more spam comments have been left since i activated it.

7. If i don’t reply to comments, it doesn’t mean i’m a bad person ;)

try to see my point. there’s not much i can say to reply to a “it looks so yummy” or “mmmm delicious” and so on and so forth :) apart from “thanks”, which i give for granted. For every comment you left me, please imagine me being there to say “thank you”, cause i really implicitly say it for every single (honest) comment, you have to believe me when i say so :)

If you ask a question that needs to be answered, instead, i normally answer. If i don’t, it’s because it’s slipped my mind. Contact me privately and repeat the question. I’ll be glad to help.

What i ask you to do is not more than what i myself try to put into practice in first person :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
